Episode 6 of Fernwood Autonomous Radio was a laid back feel good sort of night. Check it out HERE!

We kicked off the night with a set by Cedar Senior. In his own words;

I recorded this little drum and bass mini-mix in mid-December. The majority of the tunes in the mix are liquid funk tunes from producers like: Technicolour, Komatic, Blu Mar Ten, etc. Near the end of the mix things start to get a little bit darker and heavier with songs from Noisia & Phace, Davip and Encode. All these tunes have been super inspiring for me in some way or another. I hope you guys enjoy these songs as much as I do!

Afterwards I played a set by local and ex-local artists. Elevenn Seraphim will be performing at this upcoming saturdays United put on by Union Sound System held once a month at the Sunset Room.

Nasstassia Yard will be performing the entirety of her debut EP “For Someone Else” on February 2 as part of the Eleven O’Clock Album series. Check out a fantastic article in Monday Magazine. Germany Germany has also promised to appear in one way or another as part of the Eleven O’Clock Album series for their album Radiowave II.

Seth Eggler of Bridge People co-hosted this evening with a wonderful set of local, handcrafted tunes by artists originating north of the Malahat. Orange Owl made clear the need to restore the gender balance of on air music (from all across the spectrum) and we delved into a half hour of nonstop empowerment.

Finally Coleman Younger of Escape From Wherever came by and dropped a ten year retrospect by his other band The Quail titled Euphoric Desolation. Links will be posted and on the blog.

Finally some community announcements.

Hearts and Hands Community Health Collective is holding a free acupuncture day & documentary screening February 5 starting at 9:00 am. Christina Chan will be on air February 2 to perform on air acupuncture and talk about the health collective.

Serina Zapf wishes that everyone will check out the Greentongue People’s Apothacary. She will be on air soon to discuss the living art installation she has developed and its role in community building.
